History
1969
In 1969 a number of farmers growing a particularly high-quality variety of peppers in Carmagnola, province of Turin, decided to process and preserve the fruit of their land. The leading light of this initiative was Tommaso Pochettino, who was entrusted with managing the company. This was how Di Vita S.p.A. was established, and shortly after, its first processing plant was built: a single line for conserving preserving vegetables in glass jars and tins, and a finished products warehouse. All fit into just 3000 square metres.
1978
Thanks to the commercial success in 1978 a new plant of 3500 square metres was built alongside the original one: 2 modern processing lines supported by an automated end-of-line were installed . The original plant was converted into a warehouse for finished products.
1980 – 1998
With its new lines, Di Vita strengthened and consolidated its market position to become a major reference point within its industry. Although the company’s stock holders have changed over the years, the founder Tommaso Pochettino still manages it and continues to be its major point of reference. Over the years Di Vita diversified its production, adding other lines to its traditional pickled vegetables, like vegetables in oil, pesto and, above all, ready-made pasta sauces.
1998
In 1998 the Pochettino family bought up the shares of the other partners and became Di Vita’s sole shareholder. That was when Alberto and Guido Pochettino, in their thirties at the time and working in other professional fields, came to join the company.
1999 -2010
Over the first decade of the new millennium, Di Vita progressively renewed and extended its production plant, building a new warehouse and committed itself to developing the export markets. In the same years the Company also installed a 600 kW photovoltaic plant, and applied for and obtained all the certifications necessary to compete on the international market.
2011 -2018
In 2011, thanks to a significant success on export markets, Di Vita starts a process of total renovation of its production facility, radically modernising all equipments. A new sauce production line is installed, the line-end gets fully automated and all specific production machinery is renewed.
2019
50 years of DI VITA. After all of these significant milestones in its development, Di Vita now operates with: facilities stretching over 80,000 square metres, 9000 of which dedicated to production and 11,000 to warehousing, and 5 completely renewed production lines. More than 75% of company energy needs are self-produced. We are ready for the challenges of the next fifty years.
